Facebook Group Page Click here to request access to the group Facebook Page. You will have to answer a couple of questions to gain access. This a place for us to connect and share photos from our work at school. This is something I have always wanted to try. The survey given in the last blog parents voted unanimously for the Facebook Page. The group is set up as a "Secret" group. Tybee Updates I am allowed to have 4 chaperones for the Tybee Trip. In the event that we have more than 4 parents express interest in being a Tybee chaperone, we will choose names from a hat. If you would like to chaperone, please email me ASAP if you have not already. There are parents that have emailed or we have had a conversation about this. If so, then you do not have to contact me again. If you have not expressed interest in chaperoning at Tybee, send me an email. Tybee Payments/Scholarships You may begin to send in money and paperwork. Send the paperwork in asap even if you are not sending the money until a later date. We will be getting an early jump on keeping this paperwork organized. There are scholarships available for students who are in need of financial assistance. If you would like information about this assistance, email Mr. Johnson. SUMDog The SUMDog fundraiser has started. Allow students to play for a chance to win prizes. It's good math practice and is for a great cause. Social Studies-We will wrap up Reconstruction and begin exploring the Westward Expansion. The Reconstruction Quiz will be on Friday, November 10. Class Representative We will choose a class representative on Wednesday, October 25th. You may have noticed that there were some items on the Social Studies Study Guide that had to do with our country's Reconstruction after the Civil War. Students were not assessed on that information. I will be covering that material next week. Also, there was a typo in one of the Study Guides that I gave. It's the item about "Andrew Jackson". I'll send out a revised guide for the Reconstruction Assessment that we will be given Monday, October 30th. Science Assessment There will be a Science Assessment Monday, October 23rd on the parts of plant and animal cells. AR Goals Students are to have met their Accelerated Reader goal by Friday, October 27th. Ask them about this. Some students have already met their goal. Certain students have not. This weekend would be a good time to read those in preparation to take AR Tests on Monday. The incentives for reaching AR Goals are great! Ms. Cassan is frying homemade donuts for the class and I will be dusting off my microphone to rap for the class. Picture Proofs Students received their pictures today.
